Former Cedar Rapids Teacher Accused of Having Sex With Student in Car
Heather Adams, a 41-year-old former teacher at Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, has been charged with sexual exploitation by a school employee.

Cedar Rapids police say they discovered a former Cedar Rapids teacher and an 18-year-old student having sex in a car last Sunday night.
Police have charged the former Washington High School teacher, 41-year-old Heather Adams, with sexual exploitation by a school employee.
Police say they found the two after getting a report of a suspicious vehicle. The responded to the scene at 9:30 p.m. in the 300 block of 28th Street Drive SE, off of school property, according to the Gazette.

Adams resigned from her position as a chemistry teacher on Monday, citing personal reasons.
Sexual exploitation by a school employee is a misdemeanor. If convicted, she would be forced to be on the sexual offender registry for 10 years.

All this comes just weeks after a Wisconsin teacher was accused of having sex with a Marion teen who is now 17. That teacher, 43-year-old Shannon Cardinal, will be on trial in Wisconsin this May 31.
