Contractors Strike Agreement, Return to Work on Marion Police Station

A deal was struck with the union constructing a new Marion Police station.

Marion Engineer Department provided this update in its weekly newsletter:

Construction of the new Police Station on Highway 151 east of Marion is again proceeding. Carpenters Union Local 308 reached an agreement and has returned to the completion of the new building.

Alos, the engineering department has provided information about how to access business during the Blairs Ferry Road construction.

During ALL associated work for this project access will be provided only for local traffic and traffic will travel west to east only. Businesses will remain open and access will be provided.

The immediate work zone is from Lyons Lane to Marion Boulevard. Access to the businesses along Lyons Lane, Audio Room, and Wheeler Inn is from the Lindale Drive at the west end of Blairs Ferry Road. Access to Schultz Chiropractic Clinic and Car Service Specialties is from Marion Boulevard at the east end of Blairs Ferry Road. The only access to the Keyes Court and Knollcrest Drive areas will be from Marion Boulevard.
