  • The boys basketball games scheduled Thursday vs. Williamsburg have been postponed and will now be played on Friday night (tomorrow).
  • The wrestling meet scheduled at Center Point-Urbana for tonight has been postponed to a later date.

YMCA, All branches closed at 12:20 p.m.

Eastern Iowa Airport. American Airlines has cancelled all flights. Check with other carries for delays.

Power Outages

Alliant Energy shows that 10,680 of its 91,740 customers in Linn County are without power. This is as of 1:34 p.m.

Iowa Department of Transportation: No Travel.

Iowa State Patrol: Tow ban on interstates and highways.

Marion declares snow emergency, which restricts parking.

Weather

From National Weather Service:

  • Thursday day: Snow with widespread blowing snow. High near 31. Windy, with a northwest wind around 35 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of around 6 inches.
  • Thursday night: Widespread blowing snow, mainly before midnight. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 6. Wind chill values as low as -15. Windy, with a northwest wind 30 to 35 mph decreasing to 20 to 25 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph.
  • Friday day: Sunny, with a high near 18. Wind chill values as low as -15. Blustery, with a northwest wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
Road Conditions

From Iowa Department of Transportation:

  • I-380: Travel is not advised. between Exit 239: I-80; US 218; IA 27 (Coralville) and Exit 55: County Road V65 (near Brandon). Travel is not advised. Towing services are prohibited. There are warnings of white out conditions.
  • I-380 northbound: Slow traffic.between US 6 (near Coralville) and Exit 10: County Road F12 (near North Liberty). Traffic is slow.
  • I-380 northbound: Slow traffic.between Exit 16: US 30; US 151 and US 218 and Exit 18: Wilson Avenue (Cedar Rapids). Traffic is slow.
  • I-380 northbound: Left lane blocked.between Exit 43: IA 150 and Exit 55: County Road V65 (2 miles north of the Urbana area). The left lane is blocked because of a jacknifed semi trailer.
  • US 30 in both directions: Roadway reopened to traffic.between County Road V44 and County Road V66 (6 miles west of the Newhall area). The roadway is reopened to traffic.
  • US 30: Travel is not advised.between IA 146; County Road T37 (Le Grand) and US 67 (Clinton). Travel is not advised. Towing services are prohibited. There are warnings of white out conditions.
