Election 2012: Ann Romney Coming to Cedar Rapids, Des Moines with Hurricane Sandy in Mind

Hurricane Sandy has captured the nation's attention (and for good reason), but the battle for the presidency continues.

Mitt Romney's campaign has announced four stops on Tuesday, including in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Davenport and Green Bay, WI. The focus of the stop is storm relief collection efforts.

The storm has disrupted some stops, but First Lady Michelle Obama made it to Iowa City and Sioux City on Monday.

Reuters reports that the Romney camp has adopted a "feel-your-pain" tone," stepped back from campaigning and canceled stops.

Romney instead adopted a feel-your-pain stance, taking time to talk up Americans' hardy can-do spirit in the face of uncertain odds. He urged people to donate to the Red Cross.

And, they didn't have much choice.

Now, Romney's campaign luster is likely to dim for a couple of days as Obama wins media attention as the nation's chief executive managing a crisis.

The Republican's aides said they had little choice but to put off campaigning given the storm's potential impact. They did not think Sandy would complicate the campaign's messaging over the next few days.
