Former Teacher Accused of Having Sex with Student is Out of Jail

The former Cedar Rapids high school teacher accused of having sex with a student, Heather Adams, has been released from jail.

The 41-year-old posted a $6,500 bond. She has a scheduled court appearance in Linn County District Court May 31.

Last Friday, Cedar Rapids police released a criminal complaint alleging they discovered the former Cedar Rapids teacher and an 18-year-old student having sex in a car on May 6.

Police have charged the former Washington High School teacher, 41-year-old Heather Adams, with sexual exploitation by a school employee.

Adams resigned from her position as a chemistry teacher the day after the alleged incident, citing personal reasons.
