Hazardous Weather Outlook: Bone-Chilling Cold, High Wind, Chance of Snow in Marion Forecast

That could change by Monday.

So if you’d planned to take down holiday decorations on Monday – a day off for some workers because it’s Martin Luther King Day, a federal holiday – you might want to move that ahead to today, or even Sunday if you’re feeling on the brave side.

It will be mostly sunny today in Marion, with a high near 49, and a west wind of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. A cold front will move into Iowa tonight, sending overnight temperatures plummeting. Overnight could dip to negative 5 with the wind chill.

A wind advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. to midnight tonight.

Sunday, Monday and Tuesday is where the bone chilling temperatures come in, according to the Hazardous Weather Outlook by the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities.

Sunday has a high of 15 degrees or negative 5 with the wind chill and winds up to 40 mph. Sunday also has a 30 percent chance of flurries, mostly before noon. MLK Day on Monday calls for a high of 6 degrees, and 11 degrees on Tuesday.

Windy overnights could dip as low as negative 20 with windchill, and Monday's overnight forecast is negative 3 without the wind.

There will be some relief coming by next Wednesday, however, as the high should be back up to a balmy 22 degrees.
