Heat Advisory Announced For Marion and Surrounding Areas

The National Weather Service has announced a heat advisory for Marion and it's surrounding areas.

I have run out of words to describe my contempt for 100 degree weather, but that hasn't stopped the climate from melting things in my car.

Despite my continued complaints and the justified moans and groans of so many of you, the National Weather Service has announced that today's high will be three short of 100, justifying a heat advisory.

I'm not saying that the weather service should have stopped the weather, but you'd think that government think tank would have come up with some ideas by now.

Anyway, the National Weather Service is warning all of us that we should be very careful about exposing ourselves to the sun today, as there is a much greater risk of heat-related illness. They warn us by recommending all of us do what I do on my days off.

DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS...STAY IN AN AIR- CONDITIONED ROOM...STAY OUT OF THE SUN.

The warning also advises us to check in with elderly neighbors and relatives, presumably to make sure they haven't melted too. Beyond that, they reccomend drinking lots of water to stay hydrated and dressing in lightweight and loose fitting clothes, so you don't overheat or expose sweat stains.

Be safe out there, and, make sure you've read up on the symptoms of heat stroke.
