Help the New Guy: I am Now a Card Carrying Marion Library Member, And You Can be Too (VIDEO)
So I feel like I am just a little more of a Marion community member now that I have my own library card. A library employee explains inside this link just how quick and easy the process was (I concur, it was indeed quick and easy)

So I don't know if this will bias you for or against me, but I was once a fulltime reporter for the Cedar Rapids Gazette, and before that I was a young fresh-faced intern in the Gazette's now demolished newsroom.
Back in the ancient antidiluvean days of 2008 (prior to the Great Flood) I went and got myself a library card at the soon-to-be flood ravaged Cedar Rapids main library building. As a librarian's son, and general all around nerd, I always thought it was cool that it gave me access to libraries even in Marion and Hiawatha, despite the fact that I generally didn't make my way out to either community that often.
I kept that card in my wallet for a long time. So long, in fact, that it outlived its own legitimacy, and became a victim to time along with the Cedar Rapids library and its double-disc set of Charlie Parker music I checked out from there that one time, which I imagine was later found lying in a stagnant pool of water amidst a pile of other ill fated books and CDs.

This week I rectified this wrong by getting a new library card at the Marion Library. I went in person to get my card, which apparently was unnecessary, as you can apply for your card online. But being there in person allowed me to produce a video of Nancy Easley, Marion Library Assistant, extoling the virtues of library card ownership and the access it gives you to all the libraries in the Cedar Rapids Metro Area.
The process was indeed quick, even in person, and I am now a card carrying Marion Library patron. The hardest part was choosing between the wallet and the keychain version of the card, as they cruelly only let you select one.
