How Has Marion Changed After Weeks of Construction?
The City of Marion's Engineering Department has released info on the ogles and ogles of construction taking place in Marion.

As we've previously been reporting, and as I am sure you've seen with your very eyes, Marion is undergoing massive amounts of construction.
This week, the City of Marion's Engineer, Dan Whitlow, has provided an update for how construction has progressed, in addition to the roads that are currently closed off.

Construction

All new concrete is now in place in the 800 block of 6th Avenue.Â

On Wednesday, paving occurred in the 9th Street intersection. By the end of the week, the colored concrete crosswalks will also be poured in this location. Contractors are also scheduled to pour the remaining sidewalks in the 900 block.Â
Other items scheduled for completion this week include two additional bases for the new traffic signals at 10th Street, and completion of the storm sewer intakes in Stage 1 installation remains on track to begin in mid-July. Contractors have used 28 of the allowed 100 working days.
Street Closings
- On Monday, July 1 the intersection of 6th Avenue and 9th Street will reopen as well as 6th Avenue from 8th to 9th Street.
- On Monday, July 1 contractors will move to Stage 2 of the project. This includes the closure of the 10th Street intersection at 6th Avenue. 10th Street will be closed to through traffic in this area. It is anticipated that Stage 2 of the project will be completed in approximately four weeks.Â
- Businesses located along 10th Street (across from City Park) will remain accessible via 7th Avenue. The majority of parking spaces between 6th and 7th Avenues will also remain available for customer use.
