Update: Authorities Identify Body Found Under Squaw Creek Bridge in Rural Linn County

Authorities consider the death of a man found under a bridge just south of Marion to be suspicious. The man has been identified as James Willard Ralls.

From Linn County Sheriff's Office:

The deceased subject discovered on the morning of December 8, 2012 under
the Squaw Creek Bridge has been identified as 47 year old James Willard Ralls. The last known address for Ralls was 7100 Mt. Vernon Rd. This incident remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone with information pertaining to Ralls’ whereabouts prior to the above date is encouraged to contact the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.

Details about the man and the death are scarce.

The Associated Press reports that the body is a middle-aged man, and that authorities aren't sure how long and it was there before the hunters discovered it on Saturday. Beyond that, officials aren't saying much. The man's name and the condition of the body is not known.

The body was transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Ankeny for an autopsy.
