Update: Linn-Mar Superintendent Mulholland Aware of Parents' Concerns About Delayed Threat on Campus Notification

Marion Police boosted its presence on Linn-Mar campus on Tuesday after an unspecified "threat" the day before. That threat is gone and police presence has returned to normal, officials say.

Updated with commens from Linn-Mar Superintendent Katie Mulholland.

Confused Linn-Mar parents and students took to social media to discuss an unspecified "threat" at the school on Monday.

Students were questioning whether they were in danger, while parents were frustrated they learned about the threat, which has been cleared, from Facebook and news media a day after it happened.

"LM needs some sort of a parental notification system. FB is not the way I, or any parent I'm assuming, wants to find out about these situations," Laura Langer wrote on Linn-Mar's Facebook page in response to the school posting about the threat.

Reached on Wednesday, the school district said they are aware of parents concerns but did not shed much more light on it. Questions about the threat itself are being directed to police.

Threat at Linn-Mar Prompts Marion Police Presence on Campus

Linn-Mar's Facebook post at around 3 p.m. Tuesday directed people to go to the district's website "in response to local news media stories regarding a threat made at LMHS."

A post on the district website told parents there was a "possible concern" on Monday, informed them of threat protocols and that Marion Police were involved. It wasn't clear from the post what happened, but that the problem had been resolved.

Some felt the district was trying to not create unneeded panic.

Terri Moats Anderson i am sure they did not want to get every parent down at the school freaking out. however finding out from the news or radio is not a responsible way to keep parents calm. you can send a mass text or tweet saying things are under control without giving too many details to hurt the investigation

Mackenzie Odell And you believe everything you read from your son/daughters FB page or he said/she said...as a graduate of LM, they have always handled situations like this in a very respectible manner...let the police do there job and if it was a huge deal, business would be running as normal now.

Others wanted to know why police were at their children's school.

Marty Ramirez Why are we seeing this here, I'm highly upset with this.

Here's some of what students were saying:

Katie Marie: Seriously linn mar? Not telling us what is happening makes us more scared than telling us..

Sean: Is linn mar legitimately on lockdown?

Allison Barger: Okay Linn-Mar, we have a right to know what the threat is considering its the students in danger.
