Linn County Casino: New TV Ads Appeal to Voters
Linn County voters will be asked whether they support a new casino for Linn County in a special election on March 5.
Both supporters and opponents of a new casino for Linn County have released 30 second television ads.
The question of whether Linn County should have a casino will be put to voters in a special election on March 5.
A group of 22 investors are backing the project. Several local economic development groups and elected officials have voiced support. Backers of existing casinos in the surrounding areas who feel the market can't sustain another casino are among the most vocal opponents.

An ad supporting the casino focuses on new jobs, benefits to local businesses and tourism to the area.
"For over 600 new jobs, for over one million tourists for local businesses, for a new casino, vote yes Linn County," the an ad supporting the campaign says.Â

Opponents have also released an ad, which is attached to this article.
The ad targets the face of the investors in the project, Steve Gray, saying he's been mum on where the casino will be located, who will run it and that local bars and restaurants will lose jobs.
"No answers. No specifics. Vote no on the Linn County casino," the ad says.
