Supporters, which includes several local economic development and business groups, say the casino will bring jobs and prove to be an economic boon to the area. Opponents say the casino will cannibalize from casinos in Riverside and Waterloo, won't deliver the jobs promised and the plan lacks specifics.
If the referendum passes, the license application goes to the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission to decide whether to grant a state license for a casino in Linn County.
