Linn County Sheriff: Car Chase Leads to Drug Charges

Linn County Sheriff's deputies arrested two people after a car chase on Saturday.
Authorities say that about on Feb. 16 at about 6:40 p.m. a Linn County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop in the 900 block of Sisley Grove Road.
The vehicle picked up speed and did not stop, authorities say. The chase got to Highway 30 and continued east. The suspect vehicle then went south on Highway 151 then turned west on Dean Road and stopped in the apartment complex in the 6100 block of Dean Road.

The driver, Michael Todd Fekete, 42 of Cedar Rapids, attempted to run away on foot but was caught by the pursuing Deputy Sheriff, authorities say. The passenger, Leilani Yvette Irvine-Bolton 41 of Hiawatha, was also taken into custody.
No injuries or property damage resulted from the chase. Fekete was charged with attempting to elude, driving while barred, possession of a controlled substance, and other traffic related charges, according to authorities.

Fekete also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for driving while barred.
Irvine-Bolton was charged with interference with official acts and a drug related offense. The chase is still under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
