Woman Flown to Hospital Following 3-Vehicle Crash on Highway 30

Multiple agencies responded to a three-vehicle crash east of Lisbon on Thursday morning.

A woman was flown to the hospital with serious injuries following a three vehicle crash on Thursday morning.

Multiple emergency response agencies responded at about 10:41 a.m. on Jan. 24 to a three-vehicle accident occurring on Highway 30 just east of Lisbon, according to a news release from Linn County Sheriff's Office, which is investigating.

A 2007 Chevy Impala driven by Sabrina Cruz, 21, of Cedar Rapids, was eastbound on Highway 30 when she drifted left of center. The Impala struck a westbound 2011 flatbed trailer towed by a 2004 Chevy Silverado, which was driven by Michael Clark, 42, of Mount Vernon.

The collision caused the Impala to spin into the path of a westbound 2009 Chevy Silverado driven by Harold Goldsmith, 73, of Clarence.

Goldsmith and his wife Patsy, 72, a passenger, were transported to St Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids for what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. Cruz was flown to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City for more serious injuries, according to the news release.

Clark was uninjured in the accident. Clark and the Goldsmiths were wearing their safety belts. Cruz was not wearing a safety belt.

The accident because blocked traffic on Highway 30 for nearly two hours.
