Man Identified in Fatal Snowmobile Crash in Linn County
Authorities say Aaron William Greif, 21, of Central City died in a late night snowmobile accident on Jan. 4.

Authorities have identified the man who died in a fatal snowmobile accident in Linn County on Friday.
Aaron William Greif, 21, of Central City, died in the accident that occurred around 11:20 p.m. on Jan. 4 about a quarter of a mile west of Monticello Road on the north side of Highway 13, east of Coggon.
Greif was traveling eastbound in the north ditch area near Highway 13 when the snowmobile struck the field fence. He was thrown from the snowmobile and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second man, who had been driving a snowmobile alongside, also struck the fence, but he only suffered minor injuries and survived. That man is identified as Jonathan M. Lochner, 20, of Central City. Lochner was transported to St. Luke's Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
This is at least the third snowmobile accident Linn County authorities are investigating in the past two week, and the first fatal crash.

Linn County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the fatal accident.
