Marcus Paige Named Gatorade Iowa Basketball Player of Year

Linn-Mar High School senior Marcus Paige has been named Gatorade Iowa Boys Basketball Player of the Year.

Marcus Paige is the second student to be named Gatorade’s Iowa Boys Basketball Player of the Year.

According to a release from Gatorade, the award recognizes athletic excellence and a "high standard" of academic achievement.

"Marcus Paige is not only the best player in the state, he is also a phenomenal teammate and a winner,” said Joe Barrer, head coach at Xavier High, in the release. "He represents Iowa well by more than just his play on a basketball court."

The release goes on to point out that Paige is a pretty impressive student, with a 4.7 GPA. That’s in addition to his 28.4 scoring average over last season.

Despite not making it to the finals in the , as I am sure many would have liked, this seems like an impressive accomplishment.
