UPDATE: Marion Anti-Bullying Advocate Interviewed for Segment with CNN's Randi Kaye
Matt Shankles, the 16-year-old anti-bullying advocate from Linn-Mar High School, has received an enormous amount of press since a Marion Patch profile on Tuesday.

Marion resident and sophomore Matt Shankles, who, among other things, used a secret Twitter handle to comfort bullied student, said he will be appearing on a bullying segment with CNN's Randi Kaye.
He spoke with Marion Patch just before his interview, which was scheduled for earlier this morning at 9:30 a.m. He said the interview will be a video conference over Skype, though he said he was not aware of when it would air.

"It is really great," he said. "It is awesome to see such an important message all across the internet."
Shankles became the subject of bullying at school after he announced he was gay. Rather than cave to the bullying as too many do, Shankles fought back, spoke out and even started a secret Twitter handle to offer support to other bullied students.

The story took off.
In hours during the early morning it was re-posted, re-tweeted and Facebook recommended by dozens of people. Huffington Post, The Advocate and GLAAD (Gay and Lesbians Against Discrimination) all featured his story.
