The chamber endorsement follows support from the Marion Economic Development Co., and several other economic groups in Linn County. The Marion City Council opted not to make an endorsement either way.

The chamber was particularly pleased by the potential infusion of cash through the mandated portion of revenue that must distrubuted through local grants.

"The casino will also address quality of life issues by providing funding in cash grants to communities, schools and non profit organizations in Linn County," the chamber statement said. "This compliments the Marion Chamber of Commerce mission to provide leadership and advocacy to ensure a growing business environment and enhance the quality of life in Marion."
