Marion Mobile Home Fire Latest Setback for Family

A Marion family displaced by a recent fire has talked to KWWL about the struggles they've faced over the past year.

The fire at a mobile home park early Monday was the latest in a series of traumatic setbacks for the Marion family that lived there for 10 years.

Chris Smith, 28, of Marion and his parents, Larry John and Denise John, spoke to KWWL about being displaced from their home this week following a fire that , in addition to the losses that preceded it.

In the past year, Denise John had a life-threatening tumor removed from her neck, Larry John had a benign tumor removed, but the surgery revealed "significant" liver issues.

Now the family is living out of a suitcase in a hotel room.

After all of this trauma, it seems like the family has become grateful that they at least have each other, intact.

"The Lord opens a window, when he closes a door. So maybe this is another door that closed and another window that has to be opened in our lives," said Denise John to KWWL.
