Marion Patch Pick Contest: Who Offers the Best Valentine's Day Special Treat?

Valentine's Day is a time to spoil your loved one with sweets. Candies, chocolates, cookies and assorted treats see enormous sales during this time of the year.

But you don't want to give your loved one the regular, run of the mill, store bought sweets. You want them to have something unique, something locally made. Something profoundly delicious that's original and sweet, just like your loved one (presumably).

So, for the first time, Marion is having a Valentine's Day competition between two local businesses, vying for the title of best Valentine's Day special treat.

The well loved, cozy coffee shop has a reputation for their fresh baked scones, muffins and delectable coffee drinks, including my favorite, the turtle mocha. For this year's Valentine's day, the shop is offering a bakers dozen of almond brown butter glaze, in colors ranging from red, pink and white, for $12. Note that if you want them, order them soon, so you can pick them up on either Valentine's Day or the day before.

The special was announced on their Facebook page, and, judging from the response from those that "like" Witte's End on Facebook, it will be a popular treat.

THE chocolate SHOP is known for their hand made chocolates and finely crafted truffles. Since they moved to their new location, they have been able to make their chocolates in their retail building. This year, they will be offering solid chocolate valentine hearts and roses for Valentine's Day.
