Marion Police: Two Men Arrested After Attempting Robbery with BB Gun at Hanna Park

The Marion Police Department has reported that they arrested two men for an armed robbery at Hanna Park Monday evening.

According to a Marion PD press release, at 7:05 p.m. on July 15 Marion officers responded to the report of a robbery at Hanna Park, 775 Fairview Dr. in Marion. Upon arrival, the officers spoke to a man who said he was robbed by two black males displaying a handgun. The man ran away from the suspects without giving any money to them, and was able to give police a description of the two men and what vehicle they had been in.

Roughly three hours later, Marion officers located a matching vehicle containing the suspects and the gun, according to the release. They stopped the vehicle at the 1200 block of Meadowview Drive, and a BB gun matching the man's description was found at the scene.

Based upon the investigation into the robbery, the two men-- Maurice Dixon, 20, of Cedar Rapids, and Joseph Dean Jr., 22, of Marion-- were arrested and charged with first-degree robbery, a Class B felony.
