Marion Rodeo Clown Sentenced to 20 Years in Prison After Being Convicted of Growing 1,000 Marijuana Plants

A professional rodeo clown has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for growing marijuana in rural Iowa for several years.U.S. District Judge Linda Reade announced Thursday the sentence of 55-year-old Roy Meeks, of Marion. He was given a special assessment of $100.
Meeks was found guilty in March of growing 1,000 marijuana plants from 2004-2011 in Jones County. Meeks and others then harvested the plants in the fall, processed the plants at a house the same county then sold the marijuana over the fall and winter.
