Marion's New Parlor Ice Cream Shop Gets the Linn-Mar Rush

The employees at new Parlor Ice Cream shop in Marion are learning pretty quickly when school lets out at Linn-Mar High, just across the street.

"There's quite a rush after school," manager Sarah Knoot said.

Parlor opened on Feb. 14 and is already finding its niche. It is located at 955 29th Avenue Suite A, in a new shopping strip that is filling out.

Inside, the shop has a vintage feel with vintage license plates, old metal Coke signs, a half of an old Chevy on the wall and classic checkered floor. Outside, there's a drive-through to keep things convenient for those on the go.

Employees say the Oreo shakes and freezes seem to be most popular so far. They also offer menu items such as burgers and fries.

Store hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Parlor has another location at 1936 42nd Street NE in Cedar Rapids.
