Marion Weather Alert: Winter Weather Advisory this Morning from National Weather Service

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! Man it should be a great Christmas! Wait, what did you just say? It's the first day of Spring in three days?

You may have noticed that it is snowing for some reason. In late March.

Because it's Iowa.

This fact has not escaped the attention of the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, who have issued a Winter Weather Advisory through 1:00 p.m. this afternoon. So drive safe.

* ACCUMULATIONS...UP TO AN ADDITIONAL 1 INCH OF SNOW ACCUMULATION CAN BE EXPECTED WITH LESS THAN A TENTH OF ICE ACCUMULATION POSSIBLE.

* VISIBILITIES...BRIEF PERIODS OF HEAVY SNOW MAY REDUCE VISIBILITIES TO LESS THAN A QUARTER MILE. THIS HEAVY SNOW WILL BE MOST LIKELY OVER EASTERN IOWA BEFORE 10 AM...PASSING INTO NORTHWEST ILLINOIS AFTER 10 AM.

* TEMPERATURES...TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 20S TO LOWER 30S WILL GRADUALLY CLIMB ABOVE FREEZING OVER MOST OF THE AREA BY NOON. * IMPACTS...THE WINTRY MIX WILL CREATE HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS THIS MORNING. SNOW AND ICE ACCUMULATIONS WILL RESULT IN SLICK PAVEMENT ON UNTREATED SURFACES...ESPECIALLY BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES THROUGH MID MORNING.

But I can't end a weather story without a note of optimism. So I must note that Weather Underground has Marion with highs in the 40s next week. So perhaps this will be the last week of freezing temperatures? One can always hope.
