Marion Woman Identified as Victim in Fatal Crash on Interstate 380

Kelley McLaren of Marion was identified as the victim in a fatal car crash over the weekend on Interstate 380.

A Marion woman was killed in a car crash early Sunday morning on Interstate 380 just south of Cedar Rapids.

KCRG-TV reports that Kelley McLaren, 25, of Marion, has been identified as the victim. She died at the scene. The other vehicle was driven by Chase Goers, 17, of Cedar Rapids, according to KCRG.

Goers was transported by helicopter to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics with life threatening injuries, and his condition is not known, according to KCRG.

Prior to identifying the people involved, Cedar Rapids Police released information about the crash.

Police responded at 3:20 a.m. on Sunday to a report of an accident on I-380 northbound just south of Wright Brothers Blvd. SW. When officers arrived they found two vehicles had collided head-on with both vehicles sustaining heavy damage, according to police.

Witnesses told police that one of the vehicles was traveling south bound in the north bound lane of I-380 before the crash. KCRG reports that this was vehicle was driven by Goers.

The crash closed the northbound lanes of I-380 from the Swisher/Shueyville Exit to Wright Bros Blvd for three to four hours while officers completed the on-scene investigation.

KCRG reports, citing Cedar Rapids Police, that police are still investigating what happened and no charges have been filed.
