More Charges for Olin Man Involved in Stolen Vehicle - Police Chase - Car Crash Incident

Newly announced charges for Michael Moman, 25, of Olin, brings the total offenses he faces to 10 following an incident on Nov. 28.

New charges listed for an Olin man who police say stole a vehicle then led officers on a chase before crashing last week, brings the total from the incident to 10. 

Charges for excessive speed and another failure to obey a stop sign infraction have been added to the case against Michael Moman, 25, of Olin, stemming from an incident during the early morning hours of Nov. 28.

That's in addition to second-degree theft, drunken driving - second offense, felony eluding, driving while license barred -habitual, failure to use headlights, disobeying a traffic signal, disobeying a stop sign and failure to maintain control.

Marion police say they attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Moman for driving without headlights, but he refused to stop and a chase was on, police said in a statement.

Moman lost control near the Eighth Avenue and 31st Street intersection, they said. His vehicle left the roadway and came to rest in the Advanced Auto parking lot at 3100 Seventh Ave.

Moman, who was the only person in the car, was transported to Mercy Medical Center by ambulance and treated for non-threatening injuries. After being discharged, Moman was taken to the Linn County Jail on numerous charges.

Police discovered the vehicle Moman was driving was stolen from a residence in Cedar Rapids, they said in the statement.
