Former Des Moines Schools Superintendent Nancy Sebring is in the news again.
The Des Moines Register reported last week that Sebring has filed suit against members of the Des Moines School District for allegedly making sexually explicit e-mails available to the Des Moines Register that she argues should have been shielded due to it being a personnel matter. The lawsuit, the Register reports, could cost the district thousands of dollars.
Sebring’s lawsuit alleges that former board president Teree Caldwell-Johnson, district spokesman Phil Roeder and school attorney Patricia Lantz “acted in concert” to ruin Sebring’s reputation via the release of information related to the sexually explicit emails.
Sebring's lawsuit is seeking an unspecified amount of damages for the disclosure of the racy e-mails involving her affair with a married Nebraska man, arguing that the disclosure not only destroyed her career opportunities, they released e-mails "to the public of purely personal and private emails disclosing intimate details about her personal life." So what say you? Does Sebring have a point that the e-mails should have been shielded, or did the public have the right to know what she was up to with e-mails sent using district equipment? Tell us what you think in the comments below.
