The City of Marion has received four applications for the city council position vacated in the Fourth Ward by Lou Stark.
You can read their resumes and cover letters before the meeting next Thursday where a replacement to fill out the rest of Stark's term will be chosen by the City Council.
The citizens of Marion could force a special election costing $22,000 to replace Stark for the rest of his term after this appointment is made, according to Marion City Manager Lon Pluckhahn. The problem with this, however, is Stark was 3.5 years into a 4 year term, and the soonest the city could hold a special election could be fairly close to November anyway, Pluckhahn said.
Stark resigned his position on the City Council effective June 1 to accept a position leading the Department of Student Affairs at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.Â
