How Much is Cost to Close Section of Linn County Road for Marion Rotary Marathon?
The section of County Home Road between Alburnett Road and Lucore Road will be closed for several hours on Sunday.

The Gazette is reporting that the Marion Rotary Marathon will get a bill for closing a section of County Home Road on Sunday
On Tuesday, Steve Gannon, the Linn County engineer, estimated the cost at $840 to rent the county’s road-closed signs, get them to the right spots on County Home Road, have a county superintendent review how volunteers place the signs and get the signs picked up on Monday.

Sections of County Home Road to Close April 21 for Marion Rotary Marathon
LINN COUNTY, IA – April 16, 2013 – The section of County Home Road between Alburnett Road and Lucore Road will be closed for several hours on Sunday, April 21 for the Marion Rotary Marathon for Shoes. The closure will begin at approximately 6:30 a.m. and end at approximately 1:30 p.m. for the safety of the runners.
Cody Crawford, race director and Marion City Council member estimates the section of County Home Road between 10th St. and Lucore Road may reopen within a couple of hours after the race begins at 7 a.m. because that section is early in the race, and the course then turns south on Lucore before picking up again at Alburnett Road and County Home Road at mile 22 of 26.2 mile race. Motorists will need to take an alternate route during the road closure.

The Linn County Board of Supervisors, Linn County Sheriff’s Office and Linn County Engineer Steve Gannon agreed to close County Home Road for the safety of the runners. Approximately 1,000 people have signed up for Sunday’s marathon, which benefits Shoes for Kids, a program of the Marion East-Cedar Rapids Rotary Club and supports other Rotary-sponsored events.
