Six Accidents in Marion as Winter Storm Warning is Issued
Marion experienced a snow storm, but a Marion city official said there's no emergency.

Though the City of Cedar Rapids declared a snow emergency due to today's snowfall, an official from Marion says there's no reason for concern.
"It is not a significant snow pile so it is not unsafe, but it is blowing," said Ryan Miller, director of Marion
He said there won't be any additional street cleaning in residential areas after this morning's sweep, except for efforts to keep emergency routes clear.

Despite the apparently safe level of snow on the ground, the Marion police department reported six accidents today, as of 3:30 p.m. They said none of the accidents were serious.
For later tonight, according to the National Weather Service, Marion will be experiencing low temperatures of around 8 degrees with winds chills around minus 10 degrees.

There's also an 80 percent chance of further snow tonight, but it should amount to less than an inch.
