Marion Parks Board to Hold Special Meeting on Wednesday After Mistaken Vote

The Marion Parks Department Board will be holding a special meeting on Wednesday to go over the proposed land swap in Legion Park.

The last time the Marion Parks Board tried to resolve a land swap for portions of , they mistakenly voted down the measure.

Apparently, some members of the board thought they were voting to not decide on the issue on that day, but instead voted to not to recommend the city council approve the swap. Now they have scheduled a meeting for tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m. at .

The proposed land swap would give an 100-foot strip of Legion Park to CeMar Holdings, which frustrated some that attended the meeting because that part of the park had three disk golf holes, according to the Gazette.

"Don’t give up this treasure," said Marion resident Trish Peyton during the meeting, according to the Gazette. "Once the land is gone, it’s gone forever."

However, a CeMar representative noted that those three holes actually already lie on their land.
