Survey Hints at Casino Opening in Cedar Rapids
Residents have been receiving a phone survey on their preferences for a potential Cedar Rapids casino.

Some residents of the Cedar Rapids area have been receiving a phone survey asking their preferences of a potential casino coming to Cedar Rapids.
The survey asks participants a couple things: Whether the imaginary casino would be best built in the Westdale Mall, downtown Cedar Rapids or along Interstate 380 and how participants sided in a 2003 vote that restricted casino gaming in the area, according to a story from the Gazette.
But that doesn't necessarily mean a casino is coming to the area.

Five government and gaming officials interviewed by the Gazette said they didn't know who was behind the survey.
Dan Kehl, a CEO of several Iowa casinos, including the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort, spoke in detail as to why he thinks a casino wouldn't work in Cedar Rapids. You can read more about that, here.
