The Dog Days of Summer Have Arrived: This Week in Marion Weather

Say goodbye to that beautiful perfect weather of last week, the Dog Days of Summer are upon us.

The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities is predicting highs in the 90s all week, with a heat index most likely eclipsing 100 degrees.

There looks to be a slight chance of rain this afternoon and tonight, but besides that it should be clear and hot until the end of the week, when more rain could bring cooler temperatures along with it.

  • Monday Afternoon A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Southeast wind around 10 mph.
  • Monday Night A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10pm, then isolated showers between 10pm and midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind around 5 mph becoming south after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Tuesday  Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. South wind 5 to 10 mph.
  • Tuesday Night  Partly cloudy, with a low around 72.
  • Wednesday  Mostly sunny, with a high near 89.
  • Wednesday Night  Partly cloudy, with a low around 72.
  • Thursday  Mostly sunny, with a high near 90.
  • Thursday Night  Mostly clear, with a low around 73.
And for you RAGBRAI riders next week, according to the Weather Underground extended forecast for Iowa you should have a cooler start to your ride, but you may face the same scorching temperatures as well as thunderstorms.
