This Week in Marion Weather: More Rain and Cold to Start, But Wait, There's Good News

And the good news isn't just that the rain let up long enough for us to dry out a bit.

One step forward, two steps back, two steps forward.

That's how I'd describe the weather forecast for this week. I believe that means by the end of it we'll end up closer to enjoying some warm and dry Spring weather, or maybe we're just linedancing, I'm not sure.

With the warm wind blowing in from the south yesterday our temperatures today should come close to highs in the 60-degree range.

That's the step forward, here's the step back from our favorite bad news purveyors at the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities.

  • Today: A chance of showers, mainly after 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Tonight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely after 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 41. South wind 5 to 15 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
  • Tuesday: Rain likely, mainly before 10am. Cloudy, with a steady temperature around 41. Breezy, with a north wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Yes it's going to get cold and rainy again for about a day and a half. But don't give up on this week, yet. As we'll two-step back by the end of the week to warmer temperatures with highs back in the 60s again by Friday.

Even better, Weather Underground's 10-day forecast predicts slight chance of rain over the weekend and highs potentially reaching as high as the 70s and 80s and less rain on the menu next week.

So hang in there. Some good stuff is coming.
