This Week in Marion Weather: Rain, Thunderstorms, Even Wintry Mix Possible

There is a good chance for rain and thunderstorms in the Marion area almost every day this week. Even a few flakes of snow could drop in town as temperatures drop as the week goes on.

The saying goes: April Showers bring May flowers.

These better be some good flowers, that's all i'm saying.

The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities is predicting hance of rain and potential thundershowers going into the overnight hours from Sunday until Monday in the Marion area. That chance carries on through Monday, and then on Tuesday when thundershowers go from possible to likely:

  • Monday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
  • Tuesday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Cloudy, with a high near 58. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

The chance of rain continues into Wednesday and Thursday, where dropping temperatures may cause a rain and snow mix. I am going to pretend I just didn't see that.

Weather Underground's 10-day weather forecast has a similar picture, with the temperature dropping to a high in the mid forties by Thursday, then oscillating between the forties and the fifties, as a chance for rain continues through the week after this Tuesday. There could be a brief break on Friday and Saturday, before the rain resumes over the weekend.

Here's KCRG's take:

Showers and thunderstorms develop overnight and continue into early Monday morning. These will be non-severe, but some pea-sized hail and gusty winds are possible. Temperatures will stay in the mid to upper 60’s Monday afternoon, but more rain early in the week will continue to drop temperatures. As we enter into a more active pattern, showers and storms are expected through Thursday as highs drop to the mid 40’s by the end of the week. Some quick warming will bring back upper 50’s by the upcoming weekend.

Stay dry out there everyone.
