The Marion City Council has approved $138,386 from the city's hotel-motel tax fund to go to several local organizations, such as the arts festival, the Marion Heritage Festival and the Granger House.

The Marion Chamber of Commerce was the biggest beneficiary, getting $50,000.

The council approved the measure at Thursday night's meeting unanimously.

Eleven Marion organizations have applied for money from Marion's hotel-motel tax fund.

The Marion City Council will be voting tonight on whether to approve $138,386.50 for the organizations. It has been recommended by city staff.

There's a wide range of applicants, from the  to the  and the Linn Area Mountain Biking Association.

We've included the document City Council members have been provided to help inform their decision. It lists each applicant, their original request, how they plan to use the money and how much the city has recommended to give them.
