Update: Lockdown Ended at Kirkwood; 2 Injured in Shooting Reported at Kirkwood Court Apartments

Kirkwood Community College has released a statement that a shooting has been reported at the Kirkwood Court Apartments.

Update 2:01 p.m.:

From Kirkwood Community College: It is now safe to come out of lockdown. Police report the suspects in the shooting at Kirkwood Court Apartments have left the area.

Resume normal activities and classes.

Update 1:45 p.m.: The Associated Press is reporting, citing Cedar Rapids police, that at least two people have been injured in a shooting in an apartment complex near Kirkwood Community College campus.

The shooting happened early Friday afternoon, Sgt. Cristy Hamblin told the AP. The victims were taken to a hospital.

We have a report of a shooting at Kirkwood Court Apartments.  Do the following immediately:

1. Do no go to “check out” what is happening.
2. Secure the door to your classroom or office immediately.
3. Close any interior blinds to the room.
4. Stay away from doors and windows.
5. Stay in your area until notified by officials it is safe to leave, or
       otherwise directed.

Await further direction.

There has been a shooting at Kirkwood Court Apartments. Police are on scene. We have no additional information at this time. Remain in lock down. More will follow as it becomes available.
