Update: Man Dies in Linn County Truck-Pedestrian Collision
Authorities say Charles Slaughter, 63, of Hiawatha, has died after being struck by a truck last week. The accident occurred on Wednesday morning on Center Point Road just north of Blairs Ferry Road.
A Hiawatha man has died after he was struck by a truck last Wednesday.
Charles Slaughter, 63, of Hiawatha, died on Friday from his injuries, police said in an email this morning.
Marion police was among several agencies to respond to a motor vehicle accident at about 8:21 on Jan. 2 at Center Point Road just north of Blairs Ferry Road. Authorities said Slaughter appears to have been walking in the traveled portion of the roadway when a truck struck him.

He was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, but did not survive.
