Winter Snow Storm Draco in Iowa: Will Schools be Closed?

Here's how to find out what's open and what's closed by the storm expected to hit Marion on Wednesday and Thursday.

The winter appears to be finally here.

National Weather Services in the Quad Cities has issued a blizzard warning for much of Iowa, including Linn County. The latest forecast calls for blizzard conditions with up to 15 inches of snow and wind gusts up to 55 mph.

The Linn-Mar Community Schools District has not yet determined whether or not school will be cancelled tomorrow.

Parents can find out of school cancellation or delay through the district website banner, Facebook, Twitter, and local news media.

Sarah Pinion, superintendent of the Marion Independent school district, and the other superintendents in the area will be communicating later Wednesday and early in Thursday about cancelations, Pinion said. Marion Independent sends out information via radio, TV, on the website, email and text.
