Winter Storm Saturn Approaches: Linn County Upgraded to a Winter Weather Advisory
Things appears to get worse the further you get away from Interstate 80 as far as the forecast projections go, and that means bad news for Marion (but not as bad as say, Cedar Falls or Minnesota)

Here it comes, another store with a silly name. This one has been named Winter Storm Saturn by the Weather Channel. Here's their forecast for Monday for the storm.
Monday, snow will continue in the northern Plains, heaviest in eastern Montana, North Dakota, western Minnesota and parts of Iowa. Â Strong winds may lead to significant blowing and drifting snow and reduced visibility, particularly in outlying areas of eastern and northern North Dakota and eastern Montana. Â
Snow will also spread southeast as far as central Illinois and central Indiana on Monday. Â Â

The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities has just issued a winter storm advisory for a sliver of Iowa including Linn County. They also say that the inches may vary between 4 to 12, but the heaviest hit sector of this storm may have a locus near Highway 30:
TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS BETWEEN AROUND 4 TO NEAR 12 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE...BUT THE EXACT LOCATION OF THE HEAVIEST SNOW IS STILL TO BE DETERMINED. AT THIS TIME...AREAS ALONG AND NORTH OF HIGHWAY 30 APPEAR TO BE MOST AT RISK...BUT THIS COULD CHANGE.
