Urbandale High School (UHS) students participating in the Urbandale CORE (Community of Racial Equity) group recently led a school-wide initiative to collect essential items in support of refugee families from Afghanistan who recently arrived in the Des Moines area. The βHygiene for Humanity Driveβ collected over 2,500 individual items and raised funds to purchase essential supplies. Donations will be provided to families from Afghanistan by way of care packages, weekly drops, or at designated stores where refugees can shop for free around the city.
