Visions for Vacancies: What Retail Store would You Like to See in New Knapp Development?

Knapp Properties can proceed with a new retail development near Meredith Drive and Northwest Urbandale Drive if the commercial property development company is able to lease at least half of a planned 12,000-square-foot building.

At a meeting Tuesday, the Urbandale City Council heard from Knapp consultant Dan Dutcher, who detailed the company’s plans to build 2-plus-acre tract of land, the Des Moines Business Record reported.

There are as yet no tenants lined up for the property, and Dutcher said construction won’t begin until it’s 50 percent eased.

Another 7,800-square-foot building is planned for the “hard corner” of Meredith and Northwest Urbandale.

The area is zoned for retail.
