Bonne Finken to Perform at ArtsCentral in Waukee Saturday

If you're looking for something to do this weekend, you might consider taking in Bonne Finken's show at tomorrow night at 7 p.m.

Finken is one of several artists from the 's Home Grown Talent Concert Series. Originally from Knoxville, Finken said she has been singing since she was a child, though only six years professionally.

"If people haven’t heard me I know they think I’m unusual," said Finken. "I don’t know if that’s good or bad, but there aren't a lot of singers out there doing what I do."

Finken said she writes all her own songs and sometimes covers favorite tunes. Her style, she says, infuses everything from rock to pop to hip-hop and is also influenced by both blues and R&B styles.

"I can take any genre and pull it into my own channel," she said. "It doesn’t matter. It always ends up a Bonne Finken song."
