Joe's Crab Shack Gets High Marks From Brookview Food Critics

The following critiques are the work of the third-grade students in Jodi Simons' class at Brookview Elementary School. Read about this all-inclusive project . Other reviews from the assignment will run this week on Waukee and West Des Moines Patches.

What’s the best restaurant underwater? Joe’s Crab Shack! Joe’s is off of Jordan Creek Parkway, south of Jordan Creek Mall. Joe’s has fish, salad, pasta and more. Joe’s Crab Shack sells at reasonable prices, for example, $5.99 to $8.99 on the adult’s menu and $3.99 to $5.99 on the kid’s menu.

Joe’s Crab Shack is one of the best seafood restaurants I have ever gone to. The food is delicious. If you are a big seafood fan like me, Joe’s has eight seafood choices, such as fish and shrimp. Are you a vegetarian? There are five choices of veggies. If you don’t like veggies or seafood you still can get mac ‘n cheese, chicken strips, steak and so much more. People who like seafood will LOVE Joe’s!

Joe’s Crab Shack was covered with so much ambiance. It has a boat hanging from the ceiling. They had stuffed fish on the walls. Lights were strung all over the place. Joe’s is the coolest looking restaurant I’ve ever been to.

The service was amazing at Joe’s. We only had to wait five minutes for our food and drinks. The waiter let us dance. The waiter and waitress gave us free bibs. If you like good service go to Joe’s.

Joe’s is the best. I personally would go back so I recommend Joe’s especially if you like seafood.

“I don’t want to go to Joe’s Crab Shack. All it has is seafood.” “Wrong!” “What?”  They have selections besides seafood. They have pizza, burgers, and mac and cheese on the kid’s menu. Looking for location? We have it in Des Moines, Iowa.  Joe’s is right off of Jordan Creek Parkway and right next to Jordan Creek Mall. The food they serve on the grown-up menu is mostly seafood, but there are a couple other choices like pasta, salads, and a few burgers. The kid’s menu has all sorts of different foods like burgers, pizza, a few seafood things, mac and cheese and chicken strips. 

Want a great selection of seafood and more? Come to Joe’s Crab Shack. The food is cooked three different ways:  fried, steamed and grilled. The kid’s menu has pictures to show you whether the food contains fruits, vegetables, grains, protein, or dairy. There are plenty of things in each meal so when you leave chances are you’ll be stuffed. If you like seafood, you’ll love Joe’s Crab Shack.

Ready for a great experience of the world underneath the sea? Come to Joe’s Crab Shack! There are lots of colorful lights scattered around the place. They have sea creatures all over the walls, plus they have birds, seagulls, surfboards, and boats all over the walls. Just to put the finishing touch on making it feel under the sea, there’s a great view of the lake. If you’ve ever wanted to know what it feels like to be under the sea, come to Joe’s Crab Shack.

If you have ever wanted a smile on a waiter’s face and a freaky fast delivery, go to Joe’s Crab Shack. We walked right in and they greeted us and sat us down.  They asked us if we needed more to drink and they walked around and made sure we had enough to drink. The waiter and waitress always had real smiles on their faces. If you want fast delivery and a waiter or waitress who cares about getting it to you fast, come to Joe’s Crab Shack.

“Now do you believe me that they don’t have just seafood?” Yeah, thanks for correcting me.” “I wish to go back.” If you like pasta, seafood or burgers, you must come to Joe’s Crab Shack.

Where is the ocean deepest? At the bottom by Joe’s Crab Shack, located by Jordan Creek Parkway and Jordan Creek Mall. They have reasonable prices and this isn’t a fishy deal so come on down.

I would recommend Joe’s Crab Shack for anyone, because it has vegetarian and gluten free food. If you’re a kid, then you have many selections: fish meals, shrimpy grilled shrimp, fish fingers, Captain’s Catch, Chicken Dippers and mini- burgers. They even serve vegetarian meals for adults. I think Joe’s gives you the perfect amount of food and drinks for good prices. If you like fish or the feeling of the sea, then visit Joe’s Crab Shack. 

There were so many details at Joe’s Crab Shack it made me want to go fish on the pond. It had a Yamaha jet ski dangling from the ceiling. They had a little rust on the silverware, but overall it was good. Joe’s Crab Shack had cool, colorful lights on the ceiling and a disco ball. Joe’s Crab Shack has the coolest setting ever.

The servers were super friendly with real smiles on their faces. They let us dance to the beat. It only took 5 minutes for our food to get to us. Joe’s let us a wear bib. The food was still nice and hot when it got to us. Go to Joe’s Crab Shack for the best service in town. 

If you love fish and non-fishy deals come on down to Joe’s Crab Shack for super good food, service, and ambiance.

“I don’t want to go to Joe’s Crab Shack!” One hour later…”I am so gonna go back to Joe’s Crab Shack.” They have many selections, but they mostly sell seafood. It is located off of Jordan Creek Parkway in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Joe’s Crab Shack has great seafood because my fish wasn’t soggy. They don’t just sell seafood; they also sell out of the water things like steak, chicken, and ribs. On the kid’s menu, they have gluten free choices. If you want a variety of food, then I suggest Captain’s Catch. There is fish, shrimp, fries, and mozzarella sticks. It’s not my favorite, but it is great because my food was really crispy.

Ever want to go snorkeling? Joe’s has a great ambiance. Their decorations had all kinds of fish and sharks so it looked like we were underwater. Their seats were very bouncy and very comfortable. The place had clean floors and their windows were clear. Joe’s Crab Shack will make you have a snorkeling adventure.

Looking for good service? Just go to Joe’s Crab Shack. I was so hungry and I wanted my food fast, and that is just what I got. For me, my food took less than 5 minutes. The waiter and waitress were joyful and fun. They looked like they love their job. The waitress got me a refill of water when I needed one and I didn’t even have to ask. Joe’s Crab Shack has really good service.

Fishing for a good meal? Just go to Joe’s Crab Shack! I recommend it to you!

Knock, Knock. Who’s there? Fish. Fish who? I smell something fishy around here! If you like seafood come to Joe’s Crab Shack by Jordan Creek Mall. There are different choices like cheesy mac, pizza, and burgers.

Joe’s Crab Shack does not just have seafood; they have other selections like cheesy mac, pizza, burgers, and chicken dippers. The taste was delicious because the cheese sticks were cheesy. The cups had little sea horses on the top to make it look really pretty. Joe’s Crab Shack is my favorite restaurant because they have different selections.

There were a lot of decorations at Joe’s Crab Shack, like fish on the walls and a great view of the lakes. It felt like a home because the chairs were like my chairs at my home. They let it smell like fish and the floor was really clean.  Joe’s Crab Shack was wonderful with little decorations.

The service was pretty quick and the waiter and waitresses were really nice. They had a real, not fake smile. When we got in Joe’s Crab Shack, the drink took about 2 minutes and when the food came out it took about 3 minutes. The waiter was really nice. He said, “Hi,” and asked us questions like, “What school do you go to?” When we wanted some ketchup, he got it right away and when I asked for water, he got it right away. It was fast and friendly service.

I recommend Joe’s Crab Shack because if you like seafood, you would like Joe’s Crab Shack. Plus, if you don’t like seafood, there are choices that are not seafood.
