The 2020 U.S. Census numbers show that Waukee's population is now 23,940. Since 2010, the community grew by 10,150 residents, equaling 74 percent growth. Waukee is now Iowa's fastest-growing (large) city, growing by an estimated six residents per day. As the City continues to invest in infrastructure and amenities, and the Waukee Community School District continues to attract people with its quality education and programs, growth in and around Waukee is expected to continue. City officials project that Waukee’s population could reach 35,000 by the year 2030.

Overall Dallas County growth surged in the past decade as well, growing by 50.7 percent. The number of residents calling Dallas County home will soon top 100,000, with the official 2020 Census County showing 99,678 already live here. These numbers give Dallas County the title of fourth fastest-growing county in the entire U.S.
