Cooler Temps, Library Fun, a Big Birthday Bash and Other Things Today in Waukee

Looking for some fun for the kids today? Check out Playful Preschoolers at 10 a.m. at the . Playful Preschoolers is for children ages 3 to 6. It includes read-aloud stories, songs and rhymes followed by a craft.

Babies and Books also meets at 10 a.m. It's for pre-walkers (babies approximately birth to 18 mos.) with a caregiver. There will be songs, books and rhymes. Only one child per caregiver is recommended.

There will be a Teen Program today. There will be a teen green craft today at 3:30 p.m.

3) Waukee Garden Club Meeting

The Waukee Garden Club will meet today at 1 p.m. at the . Garden Club members will be doing clean up on the Library's Butterfly Garden.

4) Big Blue Jean Birthday Bash for Dallas County Recorder Chad Airhart

Join Dallas County Recorder Chad Airhart and special guests Matt Schultz and Tim Pawlenty tonight at the for Airhart's 35th Big Blue Jean Birthday Bash from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to leave the business attire behind and wear their favorite pair of blue jeans to celebrate Airhart's 35th birthday. There will be premium wine and barbeque. Cost is $50 to attend. To RSVP, e-mail chad@chadairhart.com.

5) Waukee Area Historical Society Fundraiser Tickets on Sale Now

The Waukee Area Historical Society will host its first fundraiser on Sunday, April 15 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at in Waukee. The evening will include a dinner and silent auction with all proceeds benefiting the Waukee Area Historical Society.

The dinner menu will feature Alice's Spaghetti Land's famous spaghetti as prepared by her nephew, Jim Nizzi. Brenna Young and Perry Young of Italian Villages of Adel will also be catering a meal of chicken alfredo, a garden salad, garlic bread and triple chocolate brownies.

Cost to attend the fundraising dinner for members of the Waukee Area Historical Society is $12 for adults and $5 for children. For non-members the cost is $15 for adults and $6 for children. Walk-ins are welcome.
