Library Fun, Track, Tennis, Fine Arts and Other Things You Should Know Today in Waukee

Here's everything you need to know today, April 3, and some other stuff, too.

1) Activities at the Waukee Public Library

Looking for something to do today? Why not check out some of the activities at the ? The Playful Preschoolers class, for children ages 3 to 6, includes read-aloud stories, songs and rhymes followed by a craft. It's offered at 10 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. today.

Also at the Library today, the Waukee Public Library Foundation and the Friend of the Waukee Public Library will host a joint meeting and potluck beginning at 6:30 p.m.

2) Waukee Sports

The girls varsity and JV girls track teams will face Ames, Des Moines East, Indianola, Iowa City, Marshalltown, Des Moines North, Norwalk, Ankeny, Boone, Johnston, Des Moines Roosevelt, Urbandale, and Valley High School in both varsity and JV invitationals at Waukee Stadium. The meet begins today at 4 p.m.

The girls varsity and JT teams will each compete against Johnston High School today at Waukee Stadium beginning at 4:15 p.m.

3) Walnut Hills Elementary 1st Grade Fine Arts Night

The 1st grade Fine Arts Night will be held this evening beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the large gym at Walnut Hills Elementary School. There is no charge to attend.

4) Waukee Middle School 7th & 8th Grade Band Concert

The 7th & 8th grade band concert will be held in the large gym at Waukee Middle School tonight at 6:00 p.m. There is no charge to attend.

5) Waukee Community PTO Elections

The Waukee Community School’s District Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is headed to the polls today to vote for the following positions in the Waukee School: vice-presidents for each school, district president, district secretary, district and treasurer.

All district positions are elected positions.  The election will take place from 7-8 p.m. today at the Waukee School District Conference room.  Any parent with a child in the Waukee School District is encouraged to come out and vote.
