Five Things in Waukee: Library Classes, Planning & Zoning, Fine Arts and Basketball

Here's everything you need to know today, Jan. 24, and some other stuff, too.

1) Activities at the Waukee Public Library

Looking for something to do today? Why not check out some of the activities at the ? The Playful Preschoolers class, for children ages 3 to 6, includes read-aloud stories, songs and rhymes followed by a craft. It's offered at 10 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. today.

Are you a writer? Are you interested in meeting other writers to compare, critique, and expand your abilities? The Writer's Group meets at the library on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m.

2) Waukee Planning & Zoning Commission Meeting

The Waukee Planning & Zoning Commission will meet tonight at 6 p.m. in the Waukee City Hall Council Chambers. The next meeting of the commission will be held Oct. 25.

3) Eason Elementary 2nd Grade Fine Arts Night

The 2nd grade Fine Arts Night will be held this evening beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. There is no charge to attend.

4) Waukee Basketball

The Waukee Warriors will face Des Moines Hoover at Hoover High School today. The boys 10th grade team will play in the small gym at 4:45 p.m. The girls JV team will play in the big gym at 4:45 p.m.

The girls varsity team plays at 6:15 p.m. and the boys varsity at 7:45 p.m.

5) Today's Weather

Expect partly cloudy skies with a high near 31 today. Tonight, calm and mostly cloudy with a low around 17.
