1) Jeff Mullen for Iowa Senate Fundraiser with Newt Gingrich

There will be a breakfast fundraiser this morning for candidate for Iowa Senate District 22 Jeff Mullen, at the Iowa Machine Shed in Urbandale at 7:30 a.m. Cost to attend is $35 per person or $50 per couple. Republican candidate Newt Gingrich will be a guest speaker at the event. For more information got to www.jeffmullen.com.

2) Early Dismissal

Don't forget! Today is early dismissal for all Waukee Schools. Elementary schools will dismiss today at 1:40 p.m. Secondary schools dismiss at 12:50 p.m.

Looking for a little something to do with the kids today? The has preschool storytime for ages 3-6 at 10:15 a.m. Babies and books is also held at 10:15 a.m. This program is for pre-walkers and a caregiver. Songs, books and rhymes are included.

Also today, the Waukee Library will host a showing of the teen movie, "Princess Bride" rated PG at 1:30 p.m. 

4) Today's Weather

Today expect partly cloudy skies with a high near 43. Tonight, much of the same with a low of 22.

5) Did You Know?

Did you know that Casey Harvey won the second seat on the Waukee City Council yesterday? The incumbent councilman's name was drawn from a hat at a meeting of the Dallas County Board of Supervisors breaking a tie between him and challenger Chris Colter. Each candidate gathered 502 votes each in the Nov. 8 election.
